For over 20 years I have been sitting with groups of men and of men and teenage boys. Many of these call me Elder, and I hear the capital E. Enough so that I’ve come to believe that my community has recognized me as one of their elders. For years I’ve been advising friends to write. Journals, books, it doesn’t matter. It matters that it means that some part of me wants to write. This is where I will do that.
